What Is an Insurance Declarations Page?

A declarations page, or “dec page,” is the first page of an insurance policy that summarizes the vital details of your coverage. It’s like a quick TL;DR reference page for your policy.

What’s On a Declarations Page?

Declaration pages for insurance include important information that you, your clients, employers, or business partners may need to know. This includes things like:

  • Named insured
  • Address
  • Policy number
  • Policy period
  • Types of coverage
  • Coverage limits
  • Premium
  • Deductibles
  • Brief description of business

You can find your declarations page by logging into your online dashboard and viewing your downloadable policy document.

You may also find it under “proof of insurance” on your user dashboard. If you’re still unable to find it, call us at 888.600.0894 to speak with a licensed agent for assistance.

A Certificate of Insurance (COI) is typically an “external” document that serves as proof of insurance. It will also list any person or business you include as an additional insured (often required before you can sign contracts and business agreements).

A declarations page is typically an “internal” document, meaning its purpose is to summarize your policy for you rather than anyone else. It can also serve as proof that you’re insured if you don’t have access to a COI.

Make sure all the information on your insurance policy’s dec page is accurate. For example:

  • Check the spelling of your name, business name, and address
  • Confirm the dates of your policy period are correct
  • Confirm the dec page lists all the coverages you purchased
  • Confirm the coverage limit amounts are correct
  • Confirm the premium and deductible amounts are correct
