DJ mixing at party

Whether you’re a full-time DJ or playing a gig here and there, it’s always a good idea to have DJ insurance. With all the other expenses you have as a DJ, you may be wondering, ‘How much does insurance cost for a DJ?’

At Insurance Canopy, we offer a couple of options for you to choose from so you can purchase a policy that fits your needs. Today we’ll talk about the cost of DJ insurance and which would be best for you.

DJ Event Insurance

If you are looking for DJ insurance that will last 1–3 days, the DJ Event Insurance is your best option. This policy includes DJ general liability insurance and is ideal for weddings, corporate events, parties, and more. The DJ Event Insurance policy is available at the affordable cost of $59. You can fill out an application in ten minutes or less to receive this coverage.

DJ Annual Insurance

The other policy option is the DJ Annual Insurance policy. If you are a full-time DJ that plans on performing at several gigs year round, you will want to purchase this annual policy. The annual policy is available for $192 per year. You can pay the full cost upfront, or you can pay in monthly increments of $18.50. Whether you choose to pay monthly or annually, it will cost you the same amount.

Additional Coverages

For the event policy, the base policy starts at $59 and for the annual policy it is $192. If you would like to add on additional coverages to your policy, you may do so when filling out an application. We’ll go over these other coverages and DJ insurance costs below.

Tools & Equipment Coverage

For an additional $40–$60 per year, you can purchase Tools & Equipment Coverage, which is only available for the Annual Insurance policy. Should your DJ equipment ever get damaged or stolen, Tools & Equipment Coverage may cover the expenses to replace your equipment.

Excess Liability Insurance

Excess liability gives you an added layer of protection above your general liability limit. If needed, this policy will help you meet your contractual liability requirements with a venue or vendor. If you need over a $1,000,000 excess limit, please contact us. Excess liability insurance costs an additional $100 per year.

Cyber Liability Insurance

If you store customer information online, like venue information, addresses, or any payment information, we strongly advise adding the Cyber Liability Insurance to your base policy. The policy protects your DJ business against liability and property losses that can result from experiencing a cyber crime such as phishing scams, malware attacks, or other cyber attacks. Cyber Liability Insurance is available for an additional $79 per year—a small price to pay to protect your online stored information.

Additional Insureds

Some venues or events may require you to add them as an additional insured so they’re covered if risks arise during your set. You can either pay $5 for one or $10 for an unlimited amount of additional insureds on our annual and event plans.
